Sometimes I feel google knows me more than myself. I will tell you every logic behind this thought.
We are so busy in our life that sometimes we don’t know who lives in our neighborhood. Most of us are using smartphones nowadays. We are connected with people through social media, chats, and emails. This post is not about how to make healthy relationships, I have written a lot about that. This post is about “how much google knows about YOU?”

If you have any doubt then I must tell you that sometimes google knows those events of your life which you might have forgotten. Read this article and you will come to know how most of the thing about you is not hidden at all. If you have a smartphone then chances are very high that there will be Email too.

Lets us discuss one by one, what are the things you share unknowingly with google.

location

Most of us open our location tracking for using maps. When you search any direction on google maps, it gives you an alert “to continue, turn on device location…….” If you select “OK” then it turn on your location from settings. With your location data, Google can track where is your home, workplace, and places you travel frequently.

Activity

When you save your contacts on Gmail it knows who you know. Google knows whom you talk and what you talk about. Google knows whatever you search. Based on your searches, Google knows what is your language, your favorite books, food, movies, songs, and much more. Not only this google knows about your age, income even marital status.

Important dates

One day google sent me a birthday notification for one of my friends, which I eventually forgotten. If you want, you can save important dates in the calendar and google will notify you for every event. So Google remember all dates associated with you.

Photos
If you use google photos, it sends you notifications about different pictures taken on the same day a few years ago. It also asks you to save your photographs or backup them to the drive.

Searches

We all are very used to searching our queries on google. Based on those searches, different tools designed by google predict what can be the next word you should type. It shows you advertisements based on your browsing data. For example, if you searched for “how to make asleep a six months old baby,” next time google might show diaper ads.

Now You can track everything that google knows about you.

Get a summary of data in your Google Account.

  1. Go to your Google Account.
  2. On the left navigation panel, click “Data & personalization.”
  3. Scroll down to the specific information you want to check.
  4. Click “Google Dashboard.”
  5. You can check all Google services you use and a summary of your data.

Now, after locating all the data you share with Google. You can change your settings as per your priorities.
I have written a post about what data you should not share with google. Hope this will help you to take decision.

Do not forget to share this post with your friends and family.
